Assam, with its sprawling tea gardens and unending stretches of paddy fields interspersed with groves of coconut, areca nuts, and banana trees, is one of the biggest States in the North East of India and the most accessible. It is a land that could mesmerize you with its mythology and magic; its flora and fauna and the sheer variety in its population.
It has one of the largest national parks in the country and the only home to Indian Rhinoceros. Across the state you will find large tea gardens that grow some of the most sought after tea in the world.

Assam is the gateway to the North East of India. It is one of the largest states in the region and economically very prosperous.
Home to one of the greatest rivers of India – The Brahmaputra, Assam has very fertile soil and farming is a large source of livelihood for the Assamese folk. Assam has five national parks including the World Heritage Sites of Kaziranaga and Manas, and 20 Wildlife sanctuaries.
How to get there
You require at least three days to make the trip worth your while.
Guwahati is well connected by air and rail as is Dibrugarh and Jorhat. Depending on which side of Assam you are planning to visit, you could connect to one of the many airports and railway stations.
