Thanks India Trail for an excellent trip to Nagaland. Thoroughly enjoyed Rohan and David’s company, everything was well organised, well researched, and everything happened without a hitch. The short holiday left me hungry for more, and I will certainly be back to spend more time in Nagaland sometime in the future.
Traveling with India Trail in Nagaland was like no other tour I’ve ever taken. The local knowledge of the guides, the spontaneity of the experience, and the friendship of the other group members (who came from India and beyond) was incredible. I truly felt like I got an authentic taste of the region and came away with a richer experience than I ever could have on my own.
We are from New Zealand, so one of the very best things about our trip into northeast India with India Trail was the opportunity to spend several days with people who actually live in India. Our wonderful fellow travellers came from Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai (though everyone still seems to call it Bombay), Nashik, Goa… so the regular opportunities to hear about life in India: over breakfast and dinner, while travelling long distances in comfortable vehicles, or sitting on an elephant at dawn, were superb moments to get behind the tourist veil. And we have made some new friends.
My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout India and we can honestly say that our trip to the North East for Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival was one of the best trips we have ever had.
The scenery was beautiful, the people wonderful, the Hornbill Festival fascinating, but what made all the difference was the team from India Trail. Very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the region . Everything was organised for us beautifully, right down to the finest details. We have no hesitation in recommending Rohan, David and the rest of his term in the highest possible terms. We are already planning our next trips with them, this time to Sikkim and Bhutan.

It was evident that a lot of thought, planning and detailing had gone into preparing the itinerary according to our interests. The trip was smooth, comfortable, informative and thoroughly enjoyable. Rather than cramming the day with items to tick off, the pacing was such that we were able to enjoy and learn each aspect of Nagaland. At the end of each day, we felt alive and refreshed, looking forward to the next day. Their guides are well informed, friendly, proud of their culture and equally passionate. There is nothing more that we could have asked for.
In my opinion there is no better way to experience a new place than to be taken around by a local and India Trail was just that. From the time we got to Nagaland I didn’t feel you were our guides but more like our friends, out to give us a great time and show us what Nagaland was all about. The Hornbill festival was just amazing and thanks to you guys we had the most amazing food at the festival. The brief history lesson you gave us on the Battle of Kohima and the visit to the war memorial was great, and of course the dinner that followed at the local Nagaland house. The most amazing spread I have ever seen with all the authentic Naga food.
